| Bio: | ![]() Name: Millicent Adelaide Bulstrode Nicknames: None that she officially goes by, but she will submit to most anything save "Millie" Age: 17 Birthday: Feburary 14, 1980 Bloodline: Pureblood Sexuality: Probably straight? She has no real interest in sex at the moment. Place of Residence: Officially: Dunmore Hall and Estates. Formerly: Hogwarts and замок Бальга (Balga Castle in Russia) Appearance Height: 5'5" Build: "No pixie", Millicent definitely curvy with a side of plus size. While she was rather built like a male rugby player when she was eleven, adolescence was surprisingly kind, carving out a zaftig like figure. Eyes: Grey Hair: Naturally dark brown. She charms it a lighter shade. Distinguishing Marks: She has a rather ugly scar from a dark curse, courtesy of her husband's wand, over her right breast, opposite her heart. There are lesser, faded scars, most notably on her knees, that are marks of the rather happy, if lonely, childhood. Other/general description: On a full body exam, a healer would find evidence of trauma from various spells, including broken bones and nerve damage, both indicative of numerous short term exposures to the Cruciatius Curse. PB: Adele (Adkins) (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y268/gorenberghe/blanks/adele/adele155.png) Family Spouse/partner (if applicable): N/A Children:(if applicable) N/A Parents: Quentin and Lucina (née Yaxley) Bulstrode Sibling(s): Half-brother Cousins: None. Pets: Former: Andrei (thoroughbred palomino), Artemis (snowy owl) (both dead) Other: Step-mother Schooling/Occupation: Year: 1991-1998 (Left February 1997) House: Slytherin Other Affiliations: Inquisitorial Squad (1995-1996) Current Occupation: (if applicable) N/A - though will consider taking over nominal control of Dunmore Estates. Returnee: (Yes/no) Yes. (As a sixth year Slytherin) Personality Personality: Millicent is a compilation of contradictions. While she has a hard exterior of not needing anyone, her greatest (and unconscious) wish is to find someone that will love and accept her unconditionally. (Though this does not have to take the form of sexual/romantic love.) It also takes her a long time to trust someone, but at the same time, she most often trusts the wrong people, leading her down a dangerous path. In her quest for acceptance, she has misstepped often and it is unclear if she will, or can, learn from her past mistakes. Millicent has declined from saying whether she is totally for or against blood purity, but if faced with the problem, she's inclined to go with what's familiar. She is constantly aware of what people think about her, automatically assuming the worst (with usually very little evidence to back such claims up). So rather than leaving herself open for the chance to be hurt, she can often be brusque, blunt, and bitchy to protect herself. Special abilities/strengths/flaws: Abilities: She speaks Russian and can swear fluently in the language. She also has a talent for potions that was never adequately developed to its full potential. She has been exposed to and raised around large, dangerous animals since she was very young and is quite knowledgeable about a great many kinds. Care of Magical Creatures came easy to her (even if that wasn't hard considering the oaf who taught it). She thought Draco Malfoy was an idiot for approaching the hippogriff the way he did. Of course, she never voiced her opinions where anyone of consequence could hear her. Strengths: Millicent is extremely loyal to those she believes deserve her loyalty, like the working men who mentored her. She is intelligence and is not afraid to speak her mind. Once she puts her mind to something, she works through the problem until it's finished. Flaws: Millicent is very much a follower, even if she doesn't completely agree with a person's words. Her self-esteem is quite low, even if she hides it behind a tough shell. She could very easily be manipulated into place by the right words. She can be a bit paranoid about what people think. Relevant backstory: Birth to Hogwarts The Bulstrode family sits in one of the lower strata of purebloods. While no where near as poor as some (namely the Weasleys), they do not have the money and the prestige the lot of the older, more traditional, families (Malfoys) wore like a simple cloak. Of course, the level of prestige was bumped up a bit when Quentin Bulstrode married Lucinda Yaxley and gained a large tract of valuable land up in the highlands of Scotland. A rather small, though competitive, apothecary wholesale business suddenly turned into a much larger, and much more profitable one, with a couple dozen loyal employees. Now Graphorns, Jabberknolls, and other animals and plants are raised on the land, leading the Bulstrodes to be one of largest purveyors of potions ingredients. Although known for being scrupulous to the letter of the law, they tend not to asked where their commodities are going and what they are to be used for. Once the money is in hand, it is no longer of their concern. Born on St. Valentine's Day, Millicent's birth was a celebrated one. After years of trying, Quentin and Lucinda finally had a child and heir, although it was not a son like they had hoped. Nevertheless, she was cherished, possibly to the point of being spoiled. Lucinda had always wanted a little girl; mother and daughter were very close. In fact, one of Millicent's earliest memories, and one of only a handful with her mother, is of Lucinda brushing and plaiting her hair. Life as she knew it changed completely upon her mother's death, when Millicent was five. Her father, Quentin, almost completely withdrew into himself, leaving her care and comfort to the house elves. Instead of finding fatherly affection from the appropriate source (namely her father), she instead found it from the men her father employed. She learned how to wrestle, curse, ride horses, and climb trees at the men's elbows, often times earning the bruises and scratches right along side. She had a close relationship with all of the men even up and through her time at Hogwarts. Hogwarts The transition into Hogwarts was a hard one for Millicent. Though her sorting into Slytherin was not unexpected, being away from home was especially hard. In addition, she felt out of place with the other girls in her year as she more often than not had trouble acting appropriately "girl-like," which earned her no favors. Her self-esteem took a blow and she found it was easier to follow and pretend that she had close friends rather try and ford her own path. This, of course, lead her to joining Draco Malfoy and his cronies in Umbridge's Inquisitorial Squad. Her father, in a rare bout of paternal intervention, was most displeased upon discovering her school activities, giving her a harsh reprimand and lecture about staying neutral in a time of crisis. Their very business relied on people purchasing their goods. It did not matter who purchased them or why they did, as long as they did. He was so angry, he nearly struck her. Continuing on, the man practically told her, that as a female, she had no place in politics and should keep to her studies. Returning much subdued in her sixth year, she did as suggested, throwing herself into her schoolwork. After her seventeenth birthday, she was pulled out of school, ostensibly because of the multitude of deaths that had occurred in the past year, but in fact, she was being married off to a man a decade her senior in Russia. Post Hogwarts At first, Millicent was excited to be married and away from England and all the notions from first year. She was anxious to start over, become a new person. That could have happened, if her husband had lived up to her hopes. Instead, she was virtually sold to Ivan Mikhailov, a hard man, interested in only one thing from his new, young wife: an heir. Cold and distant at first, when she failed to become pregnant shortly after their nuptials, he became hostile and cruel. Barbs and pinches became violent tirades and slaps. He killed both her beloved animals: first her owl and then her hose, in front of her when pregnancy alluded her. Her wand soon followed. Ivan took on a mistress and when Irina became pregnant, Millicent lost the little value she had to him. After one particular beating, where he used a combination of curses, his fist, and a belt, he left her on the stone floor of her room, bruised, bloody, and barely conscious. The next morning, when the elves came to stoke the fire, they found her body. She was not even eighteen years of age. She was buried on the Mikhailov's land with little fanfare. There were no obitiuaries, in Russia or in England. Millicent Bulstrode just simply ceased to exist. Almost a decade later, out of guilt, or lack of any suitable heirs, Quentin married a young witch and they soon had a son. Soon after the infant's birth, Quentin died in his sleep, seemingly of natural causes. No investigation was taken and the young Bulstrode male is set to inherit his trust fund when he turns seventeen and the bulk of his father's estate (Yaxley holdings) when he turns twenty one, with the remainder not willed to other parties transferred on his twenty-fifth birthday. Until then, his mother, the second Mrs. Quentin Bulstrode, is appointed executor. Thoughts Upon Returning Millicent is in a very odd place in her life right now. There is nobody to tell her what to do for the first time in life, which is both a very liberating and very frightening thought. She's not quite willing to support Voldemort, but nor is she on the side of Harry. Se very much wants to stay neutral, though she wouldn't mind sticking something in the memory of her father, who she thinks betrayed her. Quentin was supposed to protect her, but all he did cast her aside and forgot about her, except for when it was convenient for him. She's willing to trust her former schoolmates: Draco, Pansy, Theodore, Daphne, and their ilk, but at the same time she knows deep in her heart, what they thought of her while in school and that's far from pleasant. She really doesn't have a choice in the matter and will take the helping hand, however grudgingly. Millicent would like to finish school, if only because she has no other recourse and need something to fill her time/busy her mind. Though it's possible she'd only take the bare minimum of courses (whatever that may be). It's also likely that she would like to wrest control of Dunmore away from her step-mother and half-brother, particularly if it is discovered that the men that were so kind her her are being treated less than satisfactorily. | |||||||||
